Laser hair removal is an effective, permanent hair reduction treatment. It eradicates hair growth by targeting either the root of the hair follicle or the blood flow to the root, depending on your skin type. Once a hair follicle has been successfully treated, hair will no longer grow from it (though everyone is different, and results may vary).

When performed by our qualified laser technicians, laser hair removal is safe, comfortable, and can be used to stop hair growth anywhere on the body.

This treatment can be used on all skin types. However, prior to your treatment, we will take a full medical history to confirm suitability for the treatment. You will also be asked to give informed consent. The procedure, its benefits and potential side effects will be explained to you. During this time, you are most welcome to ask any questions you may have. You will be provided with verbal or written after care instructions. You may find Harmony’s SHR hair removal uncomfortable, but not ‘painful’. The system we use at Eden MediSpa is among the latest and best in the industry, and has contact cooling to reduce discomfort. Following your treatment your skin may be a little red, resembling a mild sunburn, but this should pass quickly. We will advise you on the best ways to reduce this. Depending on the size of the treated area, each session can take from 15 to 30 minutes.

At Eden MediSpa, treatments are performed using industry-leading technology. However, although we can offer successful treatments to a huge range of skin tone and hair colours, we unfortunately are unable to treat red, white or grey hair.

Laser hair removal targets the hair during the active growth phase. Because hair grows in ‘cycles’, you may require between six to eight treatments, timed 4-6 weeks apart to achieve the desired, hair free result. However, you will notice hair growth is finer even from the first treatment.

You will experience very little or no ‘downtime’, which means that there will be almost no visible evidence of your treatment. Redness usually disappears within a couple of hours. Your skin can be covered with makeup if needed.

• Direct sun exposure or sun beds must be avoided for at least four weeks after the treatment
• A sun screen (SPF 50) should be used on all sun exposed parts post-treatment
• Hair regrows at different rates on different areas of the body. New growth may not occur for up to 3 weeks after the treatment. For one to two weeks following your treatment, you will notice shedding of the treated hair.
• Do not wax, use electrolysis, pluck or thread as it will disturb the hair follicle at the treatment area for 4-6 weeks after the treatment. You may shave, trim the hair or use depilatories.
